Social Media and Its Influence on Human Communication Patterns

Social media has transformed the way individuals communicate, interact, and share information in contemporary society. With the rapid expansion of digital platforms, communication patterns have shifted from traditional face-to-face interactions to technology-mediated exchanges that occur instantly across geographical boundaries. This study examines the influence of social media on human communication patterns by exploring how digital platforms shape interpersonal relationships, information sharing, and social interaction. Social media enables users to communicate through text, images, videos, and real-time messaging, creating new forms of expression and connectivity. the positive and negative implications of social media for communication. On one hand, social media enhances connectivity, facilitates the exchange of ideas, and allows individuals to maintain relationships despite physical distance. It also provides opportunities for community building, public participation, and access to diverse sources of information. On the other hand, excessive reliance on digital communication may reduce the depth of personal interactions and contribute to issues such as misinterpretation of messages, reduced face-to-face communication skills, and the spread of misinformation.
