Digital Literacy and Academic Performance Among College Students

Abstract

Digital literacy has become an essential competency in higher education, enabling students to effectively access, evaluate, create, and communicate information through digital technologies. As colleges increasingly integrate online learning platforms, digital resources, virtual collaboration tools, and artificial intelligence applications into teaching and learning, students' digital literacy plays a crucial role in determining their academic success. Beyond technical proficiency, digital literacy encompasses critical thinking, information evaluation, ethical technology use, online communication, and problem-solving skills that support effective learning in technology-rich educational environments. the relationship between digital literacy and academic performance among college students by exploring how digital competencies influence learning outcomes, academic engagement, and educational achievement. A quantitative research design is proposed using a structured questionnaire administered to undergraduate and postgraduate students from various academic disciplines. The study may assess students' levels of digital literacy, including information literacy, communication skills, digital content creation, online collaboration, and cybersecurity awareness, alongside measures of academic performance such as grade point average, classroom engagement, and self-reported learning outcomes.
